CSSA Christmas Quiz

Following the success of the last quiz night the CSSA Women’s Group managed to raise Christmas spirits with another fun evening for their nominated charity “Safer Places.”

The quiz is delivered virtually with multiple choice answers selected with the added time challenge of fastest finger first. That gives an added competitive edge when teams are debating their answers.

Our questions provided a selection of Christmas and festive season rounds ranging from ‘food and drink’, ‘general seasonal trivia’, ‘carols and music’ to testing knowledge of the pantomime (oh Yes we did ..!! Oh No we didn’t !!) Each participant was asked to donate a minimum of £5 joining fee as individuals, colleague teams or families and friends. As it is heading towards the festive season with little joy of gathering together outside of our own socially distanced ‘bubbles’ there was the added incentive for a prize for the best Christmas outfit too. Our prizes of Christmas Fizz were generously supplied by Jo Long of Metsa.

We had some teams returning to challenge AJ & the Dogs who were our previous winners plus a mix of new challengers. Unfortunately, not everyone managed to get onto the Teams link so remained incognito for the duration. (The identity of ‘’Squirrels United’ was only revealed after the event).

The top of the leader board generated some serious competition. ‘Mary Lou’ maintained her first spot for most of the time with ‘Doodles’ and the Squirrels coming close. Committee member Jo Long became ‘Jo Quiz McQuizzy Face’. Exclamations of “Oh no I pressed the wrong answer ..!!” could be heard alongside groans when the obviously wrong choice was made. The Cleaning category tested many with cries of shame from those that didn’t get the correct pH of an acid along with the number of heads on Trigger’s 20-year-old broom (17) 😉. The type of feathers on Mary Hibbard’s 1881 patented feather duster caused much hilarity; vulture? turkey? or humming bird?

As the quiz came to its natural conclusion ‘Mary Lou’ revealed herself as Alison Job of the Caravan & Motor Home Club therefore AJ & The Dogs retains the Quiz Champion title undefeated. Runner up was Adam Cowper-Smith of Soft Services Solutions and his family as Squirrels United with the Jangro team a close third place. Prize for the best Christmas Outfit went to Jade Piennar from distributor MSC West. Hopefully your Fizz will reach you in time for Christmas.

Once again there was some great feedback from those that participated with a wonderful total of £122.88 raised for the ‘Safer Places’” charity. This will be further supported by matched donations from the CSSA for both quiz sessions to the value of £550.
