Celebrating International Women’s Day

The CSSA Women’s Group held an afternoon networking event in recognition of International Women’s Day. The day belongs to women everywhere! A day which historically has been marked each year since the United Nations announcement in 1975. The theme this year focussed on women in the context of climate change "Gender equality today for a sustainable tomorrow” and an occasion to celebrate the social, economic, cultural and political achievements and contributions of women around the world.

Across the world thought leaders, influencers, and career professionals shared their thoughts and ideas around the IWD 2022 #BreakTheBias theme. (illustrated by the crossing of arms). Together there is a mission to forge inclusive work cultures where women’s careers thrive and their achievements are celebrated.

And the CSSA didn’t disappoint.

At our event we had some seriously significant women with representation from Global and National Heads of Cleaning; CEO of a national janitorial; organisation; Board Directors; owners of successful businesses from across a wide variety of sectors and many senior managers from the diverse range of companies in our industry. What a fine example to the junior members of the teams who also joined in the celebrations. We welcome the commitment of key individuals present who are prepared to support and mentor the next generation of women for the cleaning Industry. And to this younger generation we welcome you!

“It was wonderful having the opportunity to meet so many successful women within the cleaning industry at the CSSA Women’s Networking event. Among many friendly faces were women with different stories and backgrounds but with the same ambition to support and empower each other in their careers”

We do have some progressive employers with inclusive work cultures, impressive employee benefits, outstanding development opportunities, good flexible working practices, and rewarding career opportunities although others unfortunately have a long way to go.

Our day could not have been the success it was without the generous support from our key sponsor ICE; admirably supported by Tomorrow’s Clean.

And finally, we raised over £300 for Domestic Abuse charity Safeer Places and an on the day collection added over £300 towards supporting The Ukraine which will be matched by funds from the CSSA Board. Not a bad afternoon’s work.
