About us.

The Cleaning & Support Services Association has represented contract cleaning businesses in the UK since 1966. Our members are contractors, suppliers and consultants of every size. Our Board is drawn from the businesses that do the work.

Our purpose

Why we exist

Our mission

To champion a stronger, smarter and more connected cleaning industry - empowering organisations, elevating standards, and driving meaningful progress through collaboration, innovation and people-first leadership.

Our vision

A professional cleaning industry where every organisation thrives, every worker is valued, and innovation accelerates positive change across the built environment.

Where insight, advocacy and community shape a sector that is future-ready, united, and recognised for its essential contribution to society.

Our values

Three values guide everything we do.

They shape how we support members and how we help the industry move forward.

  • Impact

    Action that makes a difference

We focus on actions that raise standards, shape the industry and create long-term value for our members and the wider sector.

  • Innovation

    Smarter ways of working

We champion new ideas and help the industry adopt better technology, better thinking and a forward-looking mindset.

  • People

    People at the centre

We support, connect and celebrate the workforce that drives our industry, building a culture of respect, opportunity and collaboration.

Our story

A national voice for professional cleaning.

Since 1966

CSSA was founded to give contract cleaning businesses a national voice, which we’ve continued to do sixty years on.

We speak to government on members' behalf. We set a Code of Practice that every member signs up to, covering quality, insurance, health and safety, and the law. And we bring the industry together, from regional community groups to the Annual Luncheon at The Savoy.

How we are run

CSSA is run by the cleaning industry, for the industry. A Board of directors from member businesses and partner bodies sets our direction. The Chairman gives final approval to our public positions.

Applicants pass an initial audit before they join, and members agree to our Code of Practice. Read the Code of Practice.
